Microsoft Copilot Vision is a new way to have AI work with you as you use your Windows PC or Mac, navigate the web in Microsoft Edge, or view the world from your phone.  It's like a second set of eyes that can instantly scan, analyze, and offer insights based on what Copilot sees.  When you activate Copilot Vision, Copilot can view your screen or mobile camera feed and use Copilot Voice to answer questions and interact with you.

Note: Copilot Vision does not capture, store, or use any data to train our models.  No images are retained, transcribed, or logged.  Once the Copilot Vision session ends, all images, audio, and context are deleted.  Model responses are being stored to enable monitoring of unsafe interactions.  A transcript of your conversation with Vision is stored in your conversation history, but it is not used for training or personalization.  You may delete your chat history at any time.

Copilot Vision is available in all supported regions and languages and can be accessed from Windows, Edge, and the Copilot mobile app (iOS and Android).  You must sign in to Copilot to access Vision.

Subscribers to Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and Premium get extended usage limits of Vision.

How Copilot Vision handles your data

Copilot Vision is only active when you initiate a Vision session. It handles your data in accordance with Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.

When using Vision, only Copilot’s responses are logged to enable monitoring of unsafe interactions and outputs. User inputs, images, and page content are not logged or stored.  Once the Voice session ends, this data is deleted.

Vision does not engage directly with your PC, the web, or your phone on your behalf—it’s there to answer questions rather than take actions. Copilot Vision may highlight portions of the screen to help you find relevant information. It will not click, enter text, or scroll on your behalf.

The first time you use Vision in Windows, MacOS, Edge, and Copilot Mobile, Copilot will ask you to acknowledge a privacy notice.

Vision is not available to commercial users signed into Copilot or Edge with an Entra ID account.

Using Copilot Vision on Windows

Copilot Vision lets you share selected browser windows or apps with Copilot during an active session. Copilot can answer questions about what you choose to share and provide step‑by‑step guidance.

While a Vision session is active, Copilot can answer questions about the app or browser windows you've shared during the active session, even if they're no longer open in front of you. When the Vision session ends, Copilot immediately stops observing, and all shared context is cleared.

Copilot Vision works with any app on Windows. However, if the content includes harmful or DRM-protected material, Copilot will not be able to analyze it.

Here’s how to use it:

  • Initiate a Copilot Vision session in the Copilot app by clicking the glasses icon A pair of black glasses icon in the composer.

  • Select which screen or app you want to share with Copilot. While Copilot Vision is active, you will see an glowing orange outline around the shared screen or app.Note: You can only select two apps at a time.

  • Vision launches with Start with text enabled by default. Vision status and controls appear inside the docked Copilot panel. You can have a text conversation with Copilot and ask questions about what you see in the shared app.

  • If you change the toggle to Start with voice, a floating toolbar displays Vision and Voice controls. You will hear Copilot play an audio greeting. You can then have a voice conversation with Copilot and ask questions about what you see in the shared app.

  • You can mute yourself by clicking the microphone icon, which disables the microphone and stops Copilot from listening. Click the microphone icon again to resume.

  • If you ask Copilot Vision for help on how to use a specific app, it may show a highlighting cursor Cursor on the screen to point something out. Vision will not take actions on your PC for you, but it can explain and show what you should do next.

  • Once you are ready to end the Copilot Vision session, click Stop in the floating toolbar. When the session ends, Copilot immediately stops observing.

Using Copilot Vision in Edge

Copilot Vision works with most sites, except those containing harmful or adult content.  When you visit a site that Copilot Vision does not support, the Copilot Composer at the bottom of the screen will show a grayed-out icon and crossed eyeglasses, and the model will refuse to discuss the content of the page.

Here’s how to use it:

  • Sign in to Edge using your personal Microsoft Account. Learn how to sign in and create multiple profiles in Microsoft Edge if you have not done this before.

  • You can end a Vision session by closing the floating Copilot toolbar or by closing the Edge window.
